The PowerCell 8 is a dash cam battery designed, tested and backed by your most trusted dash cam name, BlackboxMyCar. The battery is engineered and assembled in South Korea.

Sporting a slimmer design, the PowerCell 8 carries 25% more power than the Cellink NEO, giving you up to 35 hours of parking mode protection for a dual-channel system.

The Battery Manager App allows you to manage the settings and check the battery performance with just a few taps of your finger even if the PowerCell 8 is installed out of sight.

Use the Battery Manager App to:

  • control settings like charging current, voltage cutoff, LED indicators

Input Cables

The BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 comes with multiple input cables and options, including a 12V Power Cable that you can plug into the cigarette lighter socket (6A) in your vehicle and a Hardwiring Cable that you can connect to your vehicle's fuse panel (9A) for a faster charging speed.

When you purchase a dash cam battery pack to power your dash cam for parking mode, you have one fundamental question to answer, and that’s how are you going to connect the battery pack to your dash cam. USB Power Outlet

With the popularity of Cloud dashcams such as from BlackVue and Thinkware, PowerCell 8 comes with a 5V USB 3.0 power outlet, this simplify the setup of mobile router in the vehicles. ​

PowerCell 8 works with the Cellink Neo Extended Battery Pack, giving you more the option to expand for more power whenever you need.

Power Duration Capabilities

A fully charged BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 battery pack can run a single 1-channel dash camera for up to 48 hours, while a dual-channel system can be run for about 35 hours with its integrated 96Wh. This measurement based on continuous runtime.

How Does It Work?

When vehicle's ignition is switched ON, PowerCell 8 battery pack charges and supplies power to the dashcam.

When vehicle's ignition is switched OFF, PowerCell 8 battery pack supplies power to the dashcam independently until power depletes.

1. Simple installation using 12V Power Cable

Just plug the battery into the cigarette lighter socket of your vehicle using the included 12V Power Cable.

2. Hardwire installation using Hardwiring Cable

For fastest charging speed, connect the battery to the fuse panel.

Changing Passwords

If you are planning on changing the battery password, you will need to enter the default password '1234' when prompted for the old password.

Note: There is no password retrieval or reset function. Password reset is a function that can only be performed by technicians at the manufacturer. The Reset function within the Battery Manager App is for resetting the default battery settings (ie. the Dual Charger setting) only and will not reset the password back to the default "1234".

Because of this, we strongly recommend that you don't change the password unless you absolutely needed to, and if you do change it, make sure to keep a record of the new password. Once you have changed the password, you will be asked to re-enter it every time you access the Settings menu within the Battery Manager App.

Excellent customer service and battery for my plug & play dash cam with parking mode

I recently purchased a VIOFO A229 duo and have been using the 12v socket cigarette lighter to power. In order to use the parking mode, I either had to have it hardwired to my van or use an external battery. Instead of having someone hardwire with potential wear and tear of my battery I knew I had to and wanted to use an external battery.
I initially had the PowerCell 8 with output cable socket in the shopping cart. I am soooo glad I had reached out to customer service chat. I chatted with Ayra for a while (since I am technically challenge with this - retired nurse LOL)
I had so many questions and she sent pics and explained. Found out that I needed the PowerCable w/splice VIOFO HK-4 Hardwiring Kit. What confused me was the word 'Hardwiring Kit'. I thought that you had to connect one end to battery and other end hardwired to the van's battery but Ayra had assured me that one end of 'spliced Hardwiring kit' connects to battery and other to the dash cam power port and the PowerCell 8 cigarette lighter adapter to the battery and to the van's 12v port.
I placed the order for the battery and added the BlackboxMyCar Power Inverter since I only do short trips which is probably not enough time to charge and wanted option to charge battery at home.
Shipping was quick but had to stay home for required signature even though I entered in the comments of the order not to do that... no biggie.
Opening the box, I was confused on the cables and thought I did not get the correct one. I went on the chat again and 'spoke' with Michael. Again, I had the 20+ questions LOL. Ayra and Michael from customer service are so patient and knowledgeable it made ordering and the setup very easy.
Once I turn off the van the parking mode kicks in. So far, the battery works great and I have parking mode capability!

Best company and support

I am not very technical inclined. Had the new Blackvue 970x with separate LTE professionally installed. When I tried to use the Blackvue app, that is where everything went wrong.

I had to return the 970x to Blackboxmycar, it was a quick RMA, they sent back my new u it promptly. I also asked if they could do the firmware update on their end as this was probably the problem.

Put the new camera back on and worked immediately. I then had issues with the LTE not connecting. BlackboxMyCar support helped me fix the issue. Turns out I had to take the LTE SIM card out and put it back in to be recognized.

All setup and everything works perfect.

Works well

Got the battery and it works as intended. Easy to connect to camera (Viofo) and easy to store under the seat. I've had it installed for two weeks and therefore don't know how it will perform over time and in the cold though.
